  1. Install a NEW O-ring seal (3) on the oil pump pipe and screen tube end. Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil GM P/N US 12345501, Canada 992704, or equivalent.
  2. Install the oil pump and screen (1).
  3. 2.1. Place the oil pump pipe and screen support tab on the stud end main bearing bolt.
    2.2. Press the oil pump pipe and screen tube end into the oil pump.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolt (4) into the oil pump.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the nut (2) on the stud of the main bearing bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
