Ignition Coil Module Removal - Right Side w/o RPO NC1

Tools Required

J 43094 Spark Plug Boot Puller


    Object Number: 483053  Size: SH
  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield bracket bolts.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield bracket.

  3. Object Number: 483168  Size: SH
  4. Remove the ignition coil assembly bolts.
  5. Notice: Do not damage the ignition coil assembly perimeter seal.

  6. Lift the ignition coil assembly out of the camshaft cover valley.

  7. Object Number: 369842  Size: SH

    Notice: Use only the spark plug boot special removal tool to remove the spark plug boots. Prying or using regular pliers could damage the boots.

  8. Remove the spark plug boots using the J 43094 .

  9. Object Number: 576484  Size: SH
  10. Remove the spark plugs.
  11. Inspect the spark plugs to gain an understanding of the engines operating characteristics.

  12. Object Number: 326350  Size: SH
  13. Inspect the ignition coil assembly terminals for excessive pitting or damage. Replace if necessary.
  14. Inspect the spark plug boots for cuts, tears or visible damage. Replace if necessary.
  15. If all components are acceptable, press the spark plug boots back onto the ignition coil assembly and store in a secure location.

    Object Number: 520839  Size: SH
  1. Remove the A.I.R. vacuum control solenoid/fuel injector sight shield bracket bolts.
  2. Remove the A.I.R. vacuum control solenoid/fuel injector sight shield bracket.

  3. Object Number: 483168  Size: SH
  4. Remove the ignition coil assembly bolts.
  5. Important: DO NOT damage the ignition coil assembly perimeter seal.

  6. Lift the ignition coil assembly out of the camshaft cover valley.

  7. Object Number: 369842  Size: SH

    Notice: Use only the spark plug boot special removal tool to remove the spark plug boots. Prying or using regular pliers could damage the boots.

  8. Remove the spark plug boots using the J 43094 .

  9. Object Number: 576484  Size: SH
  10. Remove the spark plugs.
  11. Inspect the spark plugs to gain an understanding of the engines operating characteristics.

  12. Object Number: 326350  Size: SH
  13. Inspect the ignition coil assembly terminals for excessive pitting or damage. Replace if necessary.
  14. Inspect the spark plug boots for cuts, tears or visible damage. Replace if necessary.
  15. If all components are acceptable, press the spark plug boots back onto the ignition coil assembly and store in a secure location.
