Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the lower ball joint nut (2) to 10 N·m (89 lb in)
plus an additional 180 degrees. For cotter pin alignment, tighten the nut up
to, but do not exceed 60 degrees additional rotation. Do not back off nut for
cotter pin (1) alignment.
Important: Do not exceed two slots during cotter pin alignment.
Tighten
Tighten the tie rod end nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ift)
plus an additional 180 degrees.
Tighten
Tighten the drive axle nut to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).
