J 24319-B Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 397546  Size: SH
  4. Remove the adjustment link to lower control arm retaining nut.

  5. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  6. Using J 24319-B separate the adjustment link form the knuckle.
  7. Support the rear support with a transmission jack.
  8. Lower the rear support for access to the inner adjustment link bolt.
  9. Remove the rear support mounting bolts.

  10. Object Number: 105028  Size: SH
  11. Remove the inner adjustment link nut and bolt.
  12. Remove the adjustment link assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105028  Size: SH
  1. Install the adjustment link to the vehicle.
  2. Install the adjustment link inner bolt and nut.
  3. Raise the rear support to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the rear support mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear support mounting bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).

  7. Install the adjustment link to the lower control arm.
  8. Install the adjustment link retaining nut.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the adjustment link retaining nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) plus an additional 180 degrees.

  10. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Adjust the rear toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications in Wheel Alignment.
