J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Loosen the condenser tube nut (2).

  3. Object Number: 614450  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the condenser tube (2) from the orifice valve hose.
  5. Remove the right headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  6. Object Number: 419230  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the condenser tube from the condenser.
  8. Remove the condenser tube.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Inspect the seal washers for damage before reinstalling the A/C lines and hoses.

    If any damage is noted during inspection, the suspect seal must be replaced.

    Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  1. Install the condenser tube.
  2. Connect the condenser tube to condenser.

  3. Object Number: 419230  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the condenser tube nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the right headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  7. Object Number: 614450  Size: SH
  8. Install the hose (2) to the orifice solenoid.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the connection to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
