Removal Procedure

Notice: Refer to Servicing and Replacing Seat Belts Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

  2. Object Number: 430303  Size: SH
  3. Remove the rear center shoulder belt anchor fastener.
  4. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.

  5. Object Number: 652898  Size: SH
  6. Release the push-in retainers securing the rear shelf trim (1).

  7. Object Number: 652893  Size: SH
  8. Release the center shoulder belt escutcheon by prying upward on the front corner.

  9. Object Number: 652898  Size: SH
  10. Carefully lift up-ward on the rear shelf trim enough to expose the retractor fastener (2) .
  11. Remove the fastener (2).
  12. Remove the rear compartment front trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  13. Remove the retractor through the rear compartment.
  14. Feed the center shoulder belt and escutcheon through the hole in the rear shelf trim panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. From the rear compartment, feed the rear seat center shoulder belt and escutcheon through opening in the rear shelf trim panel.
  2. Install the retractor to the cross brace.

  3. Object Number: 652898  Size: SH
  4. Carefully lift upward on the rear shelf trim panel.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. From inside the vehicle, install the rear seat center shoulder retractor fastener (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the rear seat center shoulder belt retractor fastener (2) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Install the push-in fastener (1) in order to secure the rear shelf trim panel.

  9. Object Number: 652893  Size: SH
  10. Install the rear seat center belt escutcheon to the rear shelf opening.
  11. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.

  12. Object Number: 430303  Size: SH

    Important: Ensure that the fastener threads and fastener hole are free of any sealer patch material.

  13. Install the rear center seat belt lower fastener.
  14. Ensure the seat belt anchor is facing forward and the seat belt is not twisted.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the rear center seat belt lower fastener to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  16. Install the rear compartment front trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  17. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
