Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the park lamps.
  3. Observe the fog lamps.
  4. Turn ON and OFF the fog lamps.
  5. Turn the ignition OFF.

Did the fog lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Position the rear fog lamp switch to the OFF position.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the rear fog lamp switch input parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) Non - HVAC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the rear fog lamp switch is OFF?

Go to Step 4

With a scan tool, observe the rear fog lamp relay control status in the rear integration module (RIM) Outputs data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the fog lamp relay is OFF?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the RR FOG LP relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did the fog lamps turn OFF?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the RR FOG LP relay control side supply voltage circuit and the rear fog lamp relay control circuit.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool observe the rear fog lamp switch input .

Does the scan tool indicate the fog lamp switch is OFF?

Test for a short to ground in the rear fog lamp relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the rear fog lamp switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the rear fog lamp switch signal circuit for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the RIM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important:: Perform the setup procedure for the RIM after RIM replacement.

Replace the RIM. Refer to Rear Integration Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the turn signal/multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
