Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
3. Move the gear selector out of park position.
4. Verify the parking brake is disengaged.
5. Expose the sun load sensor to a bright light.
6. Place the wiper/washer switch in the ON position.
7. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
8. Place the fog lamp switch in the OFF position.
9. Wait more than 6 seconds.
10. Observe the driver information center (DIC).
11. Cover the sun load sensor.
12. Wait more than 6 seconds.
13. Place the wiper/washer switch in the OFF position.
14. Place the gear selector in the park position.
15. Release the brake pedal.

Does the HEADLAMPS SUGGESTED message display operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the headlamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - Low Beams

Do the wipers operate properly?

Go to Step 5

Go to Wipers Always On in Wipers/Washer Systems

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. With a scan tool, observe the Lights On with Wipers data parameter in the dash integration module (DIM) inputs data list.
4. Cycle the wipers On and Off.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Lights On with Wipers data parameter changes between On and Off with the wiper/washer switch position?

Go to Step 7

Test for a short to battery positive voltage in the headlamp on with wipers signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the driver information center module (DIC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the dash integration module (DIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 10

Replace the DIC module. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Important:: Perform the setup procedure for the DIM after DIM replacement.

Replace the DIM. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
