Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Cover the sun load sensor.
  3. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
  4. Move the gear selector out of park position.
  5. Verify the parking brake is disengaged.
  6. Place the wiper/washer switch in the ON position.
  7. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  8. Place the fog lamp switch in the OFF position.
  9. Wait more than 6 seconds.
  10. Observe the driver information center (DIC).
  11. Place the wiper/washer switch in the OFF position.
  12. Place the gear selector in the park position.
  13. Release the brake pedal.

Does the HEADLAMPS SUGGESTED message display operate properly?

Does the automatic lamp control operate properly?

Do the wipers operate properly?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Lights On with Wipers data parameter in the dash integration module (DIM) inputs data list.
  4. Cycle the wipers On and Off.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Lights On with Wipers data parameter changes between On and Off with the wiper/washer switch position?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the windshield wiper switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Lights On with Wipers data parameter in the dash integration module (DIM) inputs data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Lights On with Wipers data parameter is ON?

Test for a short to battery positive voltage in the windshield wiper switch on signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the windshield wiper switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the dash integration module (DIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.

Important:: Perform the setup procedure for the DIM after DIM replacement.

Replace the DIM. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Body Control System.
