Removal Procedure
- Remove the IP compartment handle. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Latch Release Handle Replacement .
- Insert the key into the IP compartment door lock cylinder.
- Insert a small diameter tool into the slot on the upper side of the door handle cylinder housing and depress and hold the lock cylinder retainer.
- While the lock cylinder retainer is still depressed, turn the key 1/4 turn counterclockwise.
- Pull to remove the lock cylinder.
Installation Procedure
- If installing a new lock cylinder. Refer to Key and Lock Cylinder Coding in General Information.
- Insert the key into the lock cylinder.
- Align the lock cylinder in the same position used for removal. Push the cylinder in place to seat fully.
- Turn the key 1/4 turn clockwise to secure the lock cylinder retainer.
- Remove the key from the lock cylinder.
- Inspect the operation of the lock cylinder.
- Install the IP compartment handle. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Latch Release Handle Replacement .
The lock cylinder should only allow a 1/4 turn and should be securely retained in the door handle.
