Do any indicators or messages illuminate when the chime sounds?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp parameter in the DIM Inputs list.

Does the Park Lamp parameter display Off?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the DIM connector C2.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp switch on signal circuit and a battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. With a scan tool, observe the Key-in-Ignition parameter in the IPM Non-HVAC Data list.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.

Does the Key-in-Ignition parameter display No?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the IPM connector C1.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the key in ignition signal circuit and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the park lamp switch on signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the key in ignition signal switch circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
