--------- Some 1991-92 Bravadas built prior to VIN 1GHDT13W9N2707828 may exhibit a grease leak at the front propeller shaft constant velocity joint boot. Owners may not notice this condition until a grease spot appears under the vehicle or when the vehicle is serviced for routine maintenance.
----- One cause for the boot tear is that the constant velocity joint was produced with an over-sized diameter. The boot retainer clamp has a reduced diameter design. The combination of the over-size boot and under-size retainer clamp, along with the twisting action of normal driving, could produce a tear.
---------- To correct this condition, a complete propeller shaft replacement is required. The front propeller shaft is a system balanced assembly which is matched to the front differential. It is not necessary to replace the front differential assembly as part of the original "matched set". Be sure to carefully match the alignment marks on the propeller shaft flange and front differential flange. Follow service procedures in section 4A of the Bravada Service Manual.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
