Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 13955 Size: SH
  1. Install the oil pan and a new gasket.
  2. Notice: Do not reuse automatic transmission bolts and washers if the conical washer is reversed. Failure to replace the oil pan bolts and washers may result in improper fastening of the system components.

    Object Number: 13952 Size: SH
  3. Install the oil pan bolts.
  4. Tighten
Alternately, and evenly, tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Notice: Do not overfill the transmission. Overfilling will result in foaming, loss of fluid, and possible damage to the transmission.

  7. Fill the transmission fluid to the proper level. Use DEXRON® III, or if unavailable, DEXRON® IIE. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  8. Check the COLD fluid level reading for initial fill only. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  9. Inspect the oil pan gasket for leaks.
