Verify that the hazard lamps are inoperative.

Do the hazard lamps operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Do the turn signal lamps operate normally?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the turn/hazard flasher.
  2. Activate the hazard lamp switch.
  3. Test for a ground signal at the hazard switch signal circuit input terminal of the turn/hazard flasher connector. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is a ground signal present?

Test the multifunction turn signal switch hazard switch signal circuit and ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the hazard/turn flasher. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the multifunction turn signal switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the hazard/turn flasher. Refer to Hazard and Turn Signal Flasher Replacement .

Replace the multifunction turn signal switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
