Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the bolts that retain the assist step support brackets to the body.
- Remove the assist step assembly from the vehicle.
- Place the step assembly on a clean, prepared surface.
- Remove the nuts (1) that retain the assist step to the support brackets.
- Remove the support brackets from the assist step.
Installation Procedure
- Position the assist step to the support brackets.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts (1) that retain the assist step to the support brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Position the assist step assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the bolts that retain the support brackets to the body.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
