With the current level of chemical etch concerns being experienced on vehicle paint finishes, it is important to be aware of the products and systems that are available to provide good service to our customers. The attached information covers the following processes:
American Automobile Service has chemical etch removal and protective processes. (800-476-1203)
So Brite has a system to help keep cars in inventory clean with minimal manpower. (800-762-7483)
DSFN (Dry Stripping Facilities Network) has a network of operators with a system that allows removal of a finish by layers if necessary, thus preserving the rust protection. (800-634-9185)
These brochures are being provided as sources of information for further investigation of the systems and processes they describe.
We believe these sources, their equipment and materials to be reliabie. There may be additional manufacturers of such materials and equipment, however, General Motors does not endorse, indicate any preference for or assume any responsibility for the products or equipment from these firms or for any such items which may be available from other sources.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
