CONDITION: Some vehicles may have a whining sound when the blower motor is operating in low blower mode.
CAUSE: The blower motor isolator does not isolate blower motor vibrations from the air conditioning module satisfactorily.
CORRECTION: Replace existing isolator and foam seal with softer isolator. Fasteners must not be torqued over the recommended specifications, 1.9 N-m (17 lb.in.), or the effect of the isolator will be negated. Use P/N 52465887. Disregard the number stamped on the isolator, refer to packaging to identify the correct part number.
Refer to service manual section 1 B, page 21 (Blower Motor And Fan Replacement) for procedure.
PART INFORMATION: Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
WARRANTY INFORMATION: Use current Labor Time Guide.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
