Fill Limiter Vent Valve Replacement Without EGR
Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 43288 Fill Limiter Vent Valve Tool
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer toFuel Pressure Relief Procedure
.
- Drain the fuel tank (1). Refer to
Fuel Tank Draining
.
- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to
Fuel Tank Replacement
.
- Remove the fuel vapor pipe quick connect from the fuel sender
assembly. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar)
.
- Remove the fuel pipes from the fuel pipe clamp (3).
- Turn the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly (2) clockwise
using J43288
.
- Remove the Fill Limiter
Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly from the fuel tank.
Installation Procedure
Important: The Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) O-ring must be replaced if the Fill
Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly is to be reused.
- Install the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly to the fuel tank.
- Turn the Fill Limiter
Vent Valve (FLVV) counter-clockwise using J43288
.
- Install the fuel pipes in the fuel pipe clamp (3).
- Install the fuel vapor pipe quick connect to the fuel sender assembly
. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar)
- Install the fuel tank. Refer to
Fuel Tank Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Refill the tank.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
9.1. | Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds. |
9.2. | Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for ten seconds. |
9.3. | Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. |
9.4. | Check for fuel leaks. |
