  1. Plug the scan tool into the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Power up the scan tool.

Does the scan tool power up?

  1. With a scan tool, select Body from the System Selection Menu.
  2. Select Body Control Module, and Data.

Does the scan tool communicate with the BCM?

  1. With the scan tool, read the current DTCs.
  2. If more than 1 DTC is listed, always select the first DTC listed on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool display any current DTCs?

Go Wiring Systems for applicable symptom diagnosis

Attempt to establish communications with other class 2 systems (i.e. the PCM, the IPC).

Does the scan tool communicate with other class 2 systems?

Inspect the BFC BATT fuse.

Is the BFC BATT fuse open?

--

Go to Step 11

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the PNK BCM (C3) connector and remove the connector combs.
  3. With a test lamp, backprobe, in order to prevent damage to the terminals between CKT 1540 (ORN) cavity B1 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp to B+ and backprobe, in order to prevent damage to terminal to the BCM ground CKT 151 (BLK/WHT) cavities A10 of the PNK BCM (C3) connector.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Locate and repair the open in CKT 151 (BLK/WHT) between the BCM and ground

Is the repair complete?

--

With a DMM measure the resistance of CKT 1807 (PPL) between the PNK BCM connector (C3) cavity B2 and the DLC connector cavity 2

Does the DMM display at or below the specified value?

5ohms

Go to Step 15

Locate and repair the open CKT 1807 (PPL).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 16

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT  1540 (ORN).
  2. Replace open BFC BATT fuse.

Is the repair complete?

With the test lamp, probe both sides of the BFC BATT fuse in the LH IPC junction block.

Does the test lamp light on both sides of the fuse.

Locate and repair the open CKT  1540 (ORN) between the BCM and the LH IPC junction block.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the LH IP junction block.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
  2. Program the BCM with the proper calibrations. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect all the disconnected components.
  2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.

Are all DTCs cleared?

--

System OK
