Important: Perform the following procedures when removing the body control module (BCM):

  1. Disconnect connector C3.
  2. Disconnect the remaining connectors.
Perform the following procedure when installing the BCM:
  1. Connect connectors C1 and C2.
  2. ALWAYS connect connector C3 LAST. Connector C3 contains the BCM power and ground sources.

  1. Connect the scan tool to the vehicle diagnostic connector.
  2. Choose service programming from the scan tool main menu.

  3. After entering the vehicle information, choose the request Inf. soft key on the scan tool.
  4. Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle.
  5. Connect the scan tool to the techline terminal.

  6. Select the service programming system (SPS) at the techline terminal.
  7. Select the terminal to scan tool programming method.
  8. Select done.
  9. Follow the instructions on the communications setup screen.

  10. Select program BCM.
  11. Select program at the summary screen. The terminal will download the information to the scan tool.
  12. Return to the vehicle. Connect the scan tool to the diagnostic connector.
  13. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  14. Select service programming from the scan tool main menu.
  15. Answer the prompts regarding the model year and the vehicle type. Press the BCM soft key on the scan tool. The BCM is programmed with the configuration file stored in the scan tool.
  16. Reprogram the theft deterrent system. Refer to Theft Deterrent System.
  17. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Engine Controls.
  18. Verify the repair.
