Each outside mirror has two reversible motors:
• | A motor to adjust the mirror view up and down |
• | A motor to adjust the mirror view right and left |
A power mirror switch controls the polarity of the voltage to the motors. The mirror select switch directs the control voltages to either of the following components:
• | The right side outside mirror motor |
• | The left side outside mirror motor |
The mirror select switch has a center OFF position which prevents the mirror motors from inadvertent operation.
When the switches are in the positions shown in the schematic, the left side outside mirror is controlled. When the power mirror switch is moved DOWN, battery voltage from CKT 1840 is applied to CKT 89 and the vertical motor in the left side outside mirror. The power mirror switch supplies a path to ground through the following components:
• | CKT 82 |
• | The down contacts of the mirror control switch |
• | CKT 550 |
The left side mirror vertical motor runs in order to move the mirror down.
When the power mirror switch is pushed to the UP position, the same motor receives voltage and CKT 89 is grounded. The voltage runs in the opposite direction.
The left side horizontal motor operates in a similar manner when the mirror control switch is moved to the LEFT position. CKT 82 receives battery voltage and CKT 81 is grounded through the left contacts.
The right side outside mirror works the same way as the left side outside mirror when the mirror select switch is moved to the RIGHT position and the power switch is operated.
