CAMPAIGN: REMOTE ENTRY MODULE (REPLACE MODULE WITH NEW P/N)

SUBJECT: REMOTE ENTRY MODULE

Models: 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser Station Wagon and Buick Century Station Wagon W/Remove Entry System (RPO AUO)

TO: ALL GENERAL MOTORS DEALERS

General Motors of Canada has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser Station Wagons and Buick Century Station Wagons equipped with remote entry systems. Some of these vehicles have a remote entry module installed which will cause random actuation of interior lamps and/or door lock or tailgate release motors. Ibis actuation may occur while the vehicle is in use or left unattended. If the tailgate release were to actuate while the vehicle was in motion, the tailgate could raise and an unbelted occupant in the rearmost (third) seat could fall out of the vehicle resulting in injury.

To prevent this condition from occurring, dealers are to replace the remote entry module with the correct module.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
