SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON THE TEMPERATURE GAGE BEING INOPERATIVE.
THE TEMPERATURE GAGE CIRCUIT USED A RESISTOR WIRED INTO THE WIRE HARNESS TO CALIBRATE THE TEMPERATURE GAGE. THE ENGINE HEAT MAY CAUSE THIS RESISTOR TO CRACK, RESULTING IN AN OPEN CIRCUIT, AND AN INOPERATIVE TEMPERATURE GAGE.
TESTING HAS DETERMINED THAT THIS RESISTOR IS NO LONGER NEEDED, AND IT WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE HARNESS AFTER AUGUST 8, 1993, AT BOTH THE OKLAHOMA CITY AND RAMOS ARIZPE ASSEMBLY PLANTS.
LOCATE THE RESISTOR BY OPENING THE HARNESS CONDUIT IN THE AREA SHOWN IN THE ILLUSTRATION. WITH THE IGNITION "OFF", CUT THE RESISTOR OUT OF THE HARNESS AND DISCARD. SOLDER THE TWO HARNESS ENDS TOGETHER, AND SEAL THE CONNECTION WITH HEAT SHRINK TUBING. PUT THE WIRE BACK INTO THE CONDUIT. THE TEMPERATURE GAGE SHOULD NOW OPERATE NORMALLY.
FOR VEHICLES REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, USE: LABOR OPERATION: N6270 USE PUBLISHED LABOR OPERATION TIME.
