VINYL TRIM & VINYL TOP REPAIR INFORMATION

Models/Years All 1984 Models

Attached to the Service Manager's copy of this bulletin is information from U.S. Body Products regarding liquid vinyl color sprays and vinyl top repair material. This information should be reviewed with personnel in your dealership responsible for this type of repair. Most of these materials should be available through your local jobbers.

P.P.L. Industries (Ditzler) also manufactures vinyl paints for inter or and exterior. The Ditzler material can be mixed by your local Ditzler jobber. If your local Ditzler jobber does not carry LIQUID VINYL PAINT (UCV) contact the nearest Ditzler warehouse. The warehouse will refer you to the nearest Ditzler jobber that is able to supply the material.

If the U.S. Body Products material is not available locally, you may write, wire or phone U.S. Body Products, at the address shown on the attached sheets. They will advise you of the availability of the material and will ship the material directly to your dealership pre-paid at your request. When contacting U.S. Body Products directly, give them the name of your local distributor so that they may follow-up in assisting the local supplier with your future needs.

U.S. Body Products will also market the VIP compound which is a 1 oz. tube of vinyl repair compound. This vinyl compound has been used in the manufacturing and GMAD plants for several years thus offering a different repair procedure for minor vinyl blemishes.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
