FIXED MAST ANTENNA FEELS LOOSE OR LEAKS WATER INTO TRUNK

SUBJECT: FIXED MAST ANTENNA FEELS LOOSE OR LEAKS WATER INTO THE TRUNK - INSTALL NEW ANTENNA BASE AND BEZEL

MODELS/YEARS: 1992 EIGHTY EIGHT

CONDITION: Some 1992 Eighty Eight models with the fixed mast antenna, built between the start of production and Vehicle Number N1820986 (Wentzville), NH367483 (Flint), may leak water into the trunk area around the rubber bezel while going through automatic car washes. The antenna may also feel loose or "flimsy" if the bracket welded to the quarter panel comes loose.

CORRECTION: Install a new antenna base P/N 25610634 and bezel P/N 25609131 using the procedure below. Both of these parts are currently available through GMSPO.

1. Attach the bracket to the wheel house flange as shown in the illustration below.

2. Attach the ground strap to the forward hole in the quarter panel bracket as shown in the illustration below. Be sure that the ground is clean and secure. Plug in the coaxial cable.
