DELAYED OR INADEQUATE ENGINE COOLING AT IDLE WITH A/C ON

MODELS/YEARS 1988 FIRENZA MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 2.0L LT2 4-CYLINDER ENGINE (VIN CODE K)

This bulletin supersedes Dealer Technical Bulletin 88-T-11A which may be discarded. The part number for the manual transaxle PROM has been revised.

Some early-built 1988 Firenza vehicles may exhibit delayed and/or insufficient cooling with the air conditioning mode selected. This is due to the engine cooling fan not operating in the A/C mode when the outside air temperature is below 85 DEG F.

This condition can be addressed by installing the following service PROMS:

Automatic Transaxle PROM No. Manual Transaxle PROM No. ---------------------------- ------------------------- 16086129 16089817

Firenza's are currently being produced with corrected PROMs, beginning with the following VIN breakpoints:

Automatic Transaxle Manual Transaxle VIN Breakpoint VIN Breakpoint -------------- -------------- JK300676 JK306426
