Camshaft Cover Removal Left
Tools Required
J 42038 Camshaft Holding Fixture
- Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
- Lift the camshaft cover off the cylinder head evenly.
- Install the J 42038 onto the ends of the camshaft. Rotate the engine to align the camshafts with the tool using the hex in the camshaft and an open end wrench.
- When installed properly, the J 42038 will be fully seated on the camshaft ends with the camshaft flats parallel to the cam cover sealing surface.
Caution: The camshaft holding tools must be installed on the camshafts to prevent camshaft rotation. When performing service to the valve train and/or timing components, valve spring pressure can cause the camshafts to rotate unexpectedly and can cause personal injury.
