Camshaft Cover Installation Left


    Object Number: 581469  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install new spark plugs.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plugs to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Remove the J 42038 from the rear of the cylinder head.
  4. Wipe the cylinder head sealing surface with a clean, lint-free cloth.

  5. Object Number: 235193  Size: SH
  6. Place the camshaft cover in position on the cylinder head.
  7. Install the camshaft cover bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Remove the J 42038 from the rear of the cylinder head.
  4. Wipe the cylinder head sealing surface with a clean, lint-free cloth.

  5. Object Number: 483170  Size: SH
  6. Place the camshaft cover in position on the cylinder head.
  7. Install the camshaft cover bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
