Generator Brace Replacement Front - 3800 V6 L36

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 162160  Size: SH
  1. Remove the generator front brace nuts.
  2. Remove the generator front brace from the engine.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 162160  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator front brace to the engine.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the generator front brace nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the generator front brace nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement Rear - 3800 V6 L36

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  2. Disconnect the vacuum booster hose.

  3. Object Number: 45675  Size: SH
  4. Remove the rear generator brace-to-generator bracket bolts.
  5. Remove the rear generator brace bolt from the generator.
  6. Remove the rear generator brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45675  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear brace.
  2. Install the rear generator brace bolt through the rear generator brace to the generator.
  3. Install the rear generator brace-to-generator bracket bolts through the rear generator brace and into the generator bracket.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   5. Tighten the rear generator brace bolt to the generator.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear generator brace bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Tighten the rear generator brace-to-generator bracket bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the rear generator brace-to-generator bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Connect the vacuum booster hose.
  10. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
