Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Caution: Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in the Preface section.

  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Remove the driver side rear wheel and the housing liner.
  5. Disconnect the hoses from canister. Mark the hoses to ensure correct installation on the new canister.
  6. Important: Inspect the canister hoses for damage or deterioration. Refer to the Emission Hose Routing Diagram for proper routing of the canister hoses. When replacing the lines, use the correct replacement part.

  7. Remove the canister bracket retaining bolt.
  8. Remove the canister.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 74280  Size: SH
  1. Install the canister.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Tighten the canister bracket bolt.
  4. Connect the hoses to the canister. Ensure the connections are correct.
  5. Reinstall the driver side housing liner and the wheel assembly.

    Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (104 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
