Action

The power steering system contains air.

Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

The steering column is worn or loose.

Inspect the steering column, Retorque the steering column mounting bolts. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Replace the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

The rack bearing preload is misadjusted.

Tighten the rack bearing preload to specification.

Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

The power steering gear is loose.

Retorque the power steering gear mounting bolts. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Replace the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

The tie rod ends are loose.

Replace the tie rod ends. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

The wheel bearings are worn.

Replace the Front Wheel Drive Shaft Bearing. Refer to Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement in Front Suspension.
