Removal Procedure
- Verify that the multifunction turn signal lever is in the center
of the OFF position.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Disable the S.I.R. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in S.I.R.
- Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to
Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
in S.I.R.
- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to

Installation Procedure
- Install the multifunction turn signal switch. Use a small flat-blade
in order to compress the electrical contact and move the multifunction turn
signal switch into position.
- Verify that the electrical contact rests
on the canceling cam.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the multifunction turn signal switch assembly (2) and
secure by using 2 pan head tapping screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the multifunction turn signal switch screws to 7 N·m
(62 lb in).
- Route the wire harness assembly (1)
along the steering column jacket assembly.
- Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness
strap (2).
- Install 1 wire harness strap (2)
to the upper tilt head assembly (1).
Install 1 wire harness strap (2) onto the wire harness
assembly.
- Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
