DEFINITION: The I/P compartment lamp stays on when the I/P compartment is closed. However, the inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection turns off the I/P compartment lamp after 20 minutes.

Check the I/P compartment lamp switch for proper contact and interface with the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Striker Adjustment in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Repair the interface between the I/P compartment lamp switch and the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Striker Adjustment in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Replace the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.
  2. Reinstall the connectors/components removed.
  3. Check for BCM DTCs. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Displaying in Body Control System.
