Introduction
During Body Control Module (BCM) related service, there are several
procedures designated to set-up the BCM correctly. Before you start, read
these procedures carefully and completely.
Setup New Body Control Module (BCM)
Tools Required
Scan Tool (Tech 2)
Important:
• | Read the BCM set-up procedures carefully and completely. |
• | The BCM will not function properly if the Setup New BCM procedure
is not performed. |
• | Perform the Theft Deterrent Re-Learn procedure after successfully
finishing the Setup New BCM procedure. If the Theft Deterrent Re-Learn procedure
is not performed after a BCM replacement, the following conditions may occur: |
- | The vehicle will not be protected against theft by the PASSLOCK
system. |
- | The engine will not start. |
- Connect a Scan Tool
to the Data Link Connector (DLC) in the vehicle.
- Input all of the required data when prompted by the Scan Tool
.
- Turn the ignition switch on.
- Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS at the MAIN MENU screen.
- At the SPECIAL FUNCTION MAIN MENU screen, select BCM reprogramming.

is not performed after a BCM replacement, the following conditions may occur:
- | The vehicle will not be protected against theft by the PASSLOCK
system. |
- | The engine will not start. |
Theft Deterrent Re-Learn
Perform this procedure under the following conditions:
• | BCM has been replaced in the vehicle and the Setup New BCM procedure
has been successfully completed. |
• | Ignition key cylinder assembly has been replaced. |
There are three ways of performing the Theft Deterrent Re-Learn procedure,
depending on the type of Techline equipment available:
- Techline terminal and a Scan Tool
(quickest method).
- T-50 or T-60.
- Re-Learn without a Scan Tool
or Techline equipment (slowest method).
Theft Deterrent Re-Learn Using Techline Equipment and Tech 2 Scan Tool
- Connect the Scan Tool
to the Data Link Connector (DLC) on the vehicle.
- At the Scan Tool
main
menu, select SERVICE PROGRAMMING.
- Enter the requested information.
- Select REQUEST INFO.
- Disconnect the Scan Tool
from the vehicle.
- Connect the Scan Tool
