Removal Procedure

Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing the fuel system components.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  3. Raise the vehicle.

  5. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.

  6. Object Number: 192082  Size: SH
  7. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.
  8. Remove the fuel filler hose.
  9. Disconnect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.

  10. Object Number: 186672  Size: SH
  11. Remove the fuel filler pipe underbody attaching screw.

  12. Object Number: 186665  Size: SH
  13. Remove the filler pipe access panel attaching screws.

  14. Object Number: 32222  Size: SH
  15. Remove the fuel filler pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel filler pipe.

  2. Object Number: 186665  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the filler pipe attaching screws to the filler pipe access panel.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  5. Install the filler pipe attaching screw  to the underbody.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (8 lb ft).

  7. Connect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.
  8. Install the fuel filler hose.

  9. Object Number: 155468  Size: SH
  10. Install the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.

  12. Install the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.

  13. Object Number: 186674  Size: SH
  14. Ensure the filler hose (4) is fully seated on the fuel tank port and the fuel filler pipe (2).
  15. Ensure the clamp (1) is correctly located on the tank port between the bead (5) and the tank (3).
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the hose clamps to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  19. Install the fuel filler cap.
  20. Perform the following procedure to inspect for leaks:
  21. 13.1. Inspect turn the ignition switch to the ON position for 2 seconds.
    13.2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for 10 seconds.
    13.3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position again.
    13.4. Visually inspect the fuel system for fuel leaks.
  22. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
