Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12287  Size: SH
  1. Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  2. Disconnect the accelerator controls cable (5) from accelerator controls pedal (1).
  3. Remove the bolts (3) and the studs (2) that retain the accelerator controls pedal to the bulkhead (4).
  4. Remove the accelerator controls pedal.

Installation Procedure

Important: The throttle should operate freely and without binding between full closed and wide open throttle.

  1. Install the accelerator controls pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the accelerator controls pedal bolts (3) and the studs (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the pedal bolts and studs to 3.0 N·m (27 lb in).

  5. Connect the accelerator controls cable (5) to the accelerator controls pedal (1).
  6. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for a correct carpet fit under the accelerator controls pedal.
  7. Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
