Removal Procedure

Notice: Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. Excessive coolant loss or personal injury may result if the engine is hot.

Notice: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. Partially drain the coolant system.

  2. Object Number: 256283  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the connector from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor .
  4. Remove the ECT sensor.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Apply a non-hardening sealer to the sensor threads prior to installation in order to prevent coolant leaks. Use P/N 1050805 or the equivalent

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the ECT sensor.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Connect the connector to the ECT sensor .
  4. Refill the coolant system.
