Valve Rocker Arm Replacement Front

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left (front) camshafts. Refer to Camshaft Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 235198  Size: SH
  3. Remove the camshaft followers from the cylinder head. Keep the followers in the order they were removed.
  4. Clean and inspect the components. Refer to Valve Train Components Clean and Inspect .
  5. Store the camshaft and followers in a clean, secure location.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 235196  Size: SH
  1. Apply a liberal amount of clean engine oil to the roller (2), lash adjuster and valve tip areas (1) of the camshaft followers.

  2. Object Number: 235198  Size: SH
  3. Place the camshaft followers in position on the valve tip and lifter. The rounded head end of the follower goes on the lash adjuster while the flat end goes on the valve tip.
  4. Important: The follower must be positioned squarely on the valve tip so that the full width of the roller will completely contact the camshaft lobe. If the followers are being reused you must put them back in their original location.

  5. Clean the camshaft journals and carriers with a clean, lint-free cloth.
  6. Install the left (front) camshafts. Refer to Camshaft Replacement .

Valve Rocker Arm Replacement Rear

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right (rear) camshafts. Refer to Camshaft Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 576503  Size: SH
  3. Remove the camshaft followers from the cylinder head. Keep the followers in the order they were removed.
  4. Clean and inspect the components. Refer to Valve Train Components Clean and Inspect .
  5. Store the camshaft and followers in a clean, secure location.

Installation Procedure

  3. Place the camshaft followers in position on the valve tip and lifter. The rounded head end of the follower goes on the lash adjuster while the flat end goes on the valve tip.
