Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Front

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Suitably support the exhaust system.

  4. Object Number: 289496  Size: SH
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger bracket insulator.
  6. Inspect the exhaust muffler front hanger bracket for serviceability. Repair or replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289496  Size: SH
  1. Install the front exhaust pipe hanger bracket insulator.
  2. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  3. Inspect for leaks and underbody contact.
  4. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Suitably support the exhaust system.

  4. Object Number: 289498  Size: SH
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator.

  6. Object Number: 289497  Size: SH
  7. Inspect the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket for serviceability. Repair or replace as necessary.
  8. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bolt.
  9. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289497  Size: SH
  1. Replace the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket if removed.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe rear hanger bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator.
  6. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  7. Inspect for leaks and underbody contact.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Suitably support the exhaust system.

  4. Object Number: 289499  Size: SH
  5. Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger insulators.

  6. Object Number: 289495  Size: SH
  7. Inspect the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket for serviceability. Repair or replace as necessary.
  8. Remove the rear bumper impact bar bolts.
  9. Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289495  Size: SH
  1. Replace the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket if removed.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the exhaust muffler rear hanger insulators.
  6. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  7. Inspect the leaks and underbody contact.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
