Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Front
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.
- Suitably support the exhaust system.
- Remove the exhaust pipe hanger bracket insulator.
- Inspect the exhaust muffler front hanger bracket for serviceability.
Repair or replace as necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the front exhaust pipe hanger bracket insulator.
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Inspect for leaks and underbody contact.
- Lower the vehicle.
Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Center
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to

in General Information.
Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.
- Suitably support the exhaust system.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator.
- Inspect the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket for serviceability. Repair
or replace as necessary.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bolt.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Replace the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket if removed.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the exhaust
pipe rear hanger bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe rear hanger bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator.
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Inspect for leaks and underbody contact.
- Lower the vehicle.

- Inspect the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket for serviceability.

- Remove the rear bumper impact bar bolts.
- Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Replace the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket if removed.

bumper impact bar bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust muffler rear hanger insulators.
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Inspect the leaks and underbody contact.
- Lower the vehicle.
