Notice: The catalytic converters require the use of unleaded fuel only. Using leaded fuel will damage the catalytic converters and other emission system components.

The catalytic converter is an emission-control device added to the gasoline engine exhaust system in order to reduce hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide pollutants from the exhaust gas. The gasoline engine in this vehicle use a three-way catalytic converter that uses rhodium. The catalyst in the converter is not serviceable.

The three-way catalytic converter is mounted in a pipe located between the right (rear) exhaust manifold and the exhaust system. The pipe has flanges at both ends that use flange gaskets to seal the exhaust system. The pipe has a tapped hole after the three-way catalytic converter that a heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) threads into.
