Removal Procedure

  1. Open the instrument panel compartment.

  2. Object Number: 576880  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts/screws from the instrument panel compartment hinge.
  4. Turn the instrument panel compartment door stops 1/4 turn.
  5. Loosen the screw that attaches the damper string.
  6. Remove the loop of the damper string from the screw.
  7. Remove the instrument panel compartment from the instrument panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the instrument panel compartment to the instrument panel.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts to the instrument panel compartment hinge.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel compartment hinge bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Install the instrument panel compartment door stops into each side of the instrument panel.
  6. Turn the instrument panel compartment door stops 1/4 turn until fully seated.
  7. Install the loop of the instrument panel compartment door damper string to the screw.
  8. Tighten the screw to instrument panel compartment door damper string.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel compartment door retractor cord bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  10. Close the instrument panel compartment.
