Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  2. Remove bolts from the Data Link Connector.
  3. Remove the hood release lever. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
  4. Remove SIR connector clip.

  5. Object Number: 182702  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bolts from the knee bolster bracket.

  7. Object Number: 182689  Size: SH
  8. Remove the instrument panel knee bolster bracket from the instrument panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 182689  Size: SH
  1. Install the instrument panel knee bolster bracket to the instrument panel.

  2. Object Number: 182702  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts to the instrument panel knee bolster bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel knee bolster bracket bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install SIR connector clip.
  6. Install bolts to the data link connector.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the data link connector bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the hood release lever. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
  9. Install the instrument panel steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
