Was the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Release the park brake.
  3. Using a scan tool, select BCM data display inputs and monitor the park brake switch input.

Does the scan tool indicate that the park brake input is off while the park brake is released?

  1. Disconnect the brake fluid level indicator switch.
  2. Turn the ingnition switch to the RUN position.

Does the BRAKE warning indicator stay on?

Disconnect the park brake switch connector.

Does the scan tool indicate that the park brake input is off?

Replace the park brake indicator switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement in Park Brake.

Inspect for a short to ground in circuit 1830.
