- Install the console shift control handle, if removed.
- Install the console shift control handle retainer.
- Correctly installed console
shift control handle retainer (1).
- If the retainer is not
flush with the handle it is incorrectly installed (1).
- Install the console shift
control.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the console
shift control nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the console shift control nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install and connect the
park lock cable to the console shift control and bracket.
- Adjust the park lock cable. Refer to
Park Lock Cable Adjustment
.
- Connect the console shift
control wiring harness,left side.
- Install and connect the automatic transaxle range selector cable to
the console shift control and bracket.
- Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable retainer.
- Adjust the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to
Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment
.
- Connect the console shift
control wiring harness, right side.
- Install the front floor console.
- Install the front floor console bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the front floor console bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install console shifter control trim plate bolts
Tighten
Tighten the console shift control trim plate bolts to 20 N·m
(15 lb ft).
Important: The cup holder must be in the open position in order to install the
front floor console trim plate.
- Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to

Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
