Removal Procedure
- Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to
Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and
Console.
- Remove the mode valve vacuum actuator. Refer to
Mode Actuator Replacement
in Manual HVAC Systems or
Mode Actuator Replacement
in Automatic HVAC Systems.
- Remove the air distribution
case cover retaining screws (1).
- Remove the air distribution case cover (2).
- Remove the mode valve
(2).
Installation Procedure
Important: Align the mode valve assist spring to the HVAC control module case.
- Install the mode valve (2).
- Install the air distribution
case cover (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the air
distributor cover retaining screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the air distributor cover screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).
- Install the mode valve vacuum actuator. Refer to
Mode Actuator Replacement
in Manual HVAC Systems or
Mode Actuator Replacement
in Automatic
HVAC Systems.
- Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to
Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and
Console.
