J 39400 Halogen Leak
Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement
in 3.5L Engine
Controls.
- Remove the radiator. Refer to
Radiator Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the liquid line
nut from the condenser.

Installation Procedure
- Install the condenser.
Important: Coat the new O-ring seals with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant
oil.
- Install the new O-ring seals onto the A/C compressor line and the liquid
line. Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
.
- Install the A/C compressor
line to the condenser.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the A/C compressor line nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the liquid line
onto the condenser.
Install the liquid line nut to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the liquid line nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Install the radiator. Refer to
Radiator Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement
in 3.5L Engine
Controls.
- Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the filling(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component
using J 39400
.
