Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in 3.5L Engine Controls.
  3. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

  4. Object Number: 532742  Size: SH
  5. Remove the liquid/suction line bracket.

  6. Object Number: 409336  Size: SH
  7. Remove the suction hose nut (2).
  8. Disconnect the suction hose from the accumulator.

  9. Object Number: 532742  Size: SH
  10. Remove the suction line block fitting bolt.
  11. Remove the suction hose.
  12. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The new O-ring seal must be coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  1. Install the new O-ring seal. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the suction hose.

  3. Object Number: 532742  Size: SH
  4. Install the suction hose into the block fitting.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the suction hose block fitting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the suction hose block fitting bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  8. Connect the suction hose to the accumulator.

  9. Object Number: 409336  Size: SH
  10. Install the suction hose nut (2).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the suction hose nut to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  12. Install the liquid/suction line bracket.
  13. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement in Hydraulic Brackets.
  14. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in 3.5L Engine Controls.
  15. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  16. Leak test the filling(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400 .
