Was the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Apply the park brake
  3. Using the scan tool, select BCM data display inputs and monitor the park brake switch input.

Does the scan tool indicate that the park brake input is on while the park brake is being applied?

Disconnect the park brake switch connector.

Using a 3A fused jumper, backprobe from park brake indicator terminal A to ground.

Does the scan tool indicate that the park brake input is on?

Go to Step 5

Replace the park brake indicator switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement in Park Brake.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect for a open in circuit 1830.

Repair the open in circuit 1830.

The BCM is causing the BRAKE warning lamp not to come on. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System in Body Control System.

Reconnect the connectors and reinstall the components that were removed.
