Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 284305  Size: SH
  3. Remove the power steering pressure line from the power steering pump.
  4. Remove the power steering pressure line from the retaining clip on the engine.
  5. Remove the electrical connector from the power steering pressure switch on the power steering pressure line.

  6. Object Number: 284308  Size: SH
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Remove the power steering pressure line from the power steering pressure line retaining bracket on the frame.
  9. Remove the power steering pressure line from the power steering gear.
  10. Remove the power steering pressure line from the retaining clip on the power steering gear.
  11. Remove the power steering pressure line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284308  Size: SH
  1. Position the power steering pressure line to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering pressure line to the retaining clip on the power steering gear.
  3. Install the power steering pressure line to the power steering pressure line retaining bracket on the frame.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the power steering pressure line fitting to the power steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure line fitting to the power steering gear to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the power steering pressure line to the retaining clip on the engine.
  9. Install the electrical connector to the power steering pressure switch on the power steering pressure line.

  11. Install the power steering pressure line to the power steering pump.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure line fitting to the power steering pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  13. Fill the power steering system with power steering fluid. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  15. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
  16. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
