Removal Procedure

The wheel bearing in the rear wheel hub is integrated into one unit. The hub is non-serviceable. If the hub and/or bearing is damaged, replace the complete hub and bearing assembly.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the rear caliper and bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  5. Disconnect the ABS electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor (1).

  7. Remove the rear wheel hub-to-knuckle bolts.
  8. Remove the rear wheel hub and park brake assembly from the knuckle.

  9. Object Number: 177182  Size: SH
  10. Remove the park brake lever bracket bolts (8).
  11. Remove the park brake actuator (6).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the park brake lever bracket bolts (8).
  2. Install the park brake actuator (6).

  3. Object Number: 614977  Size: SH
  4. Install the rear wheel hub and park brake assembly to the knuckle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install NEW rear wheel hub-to-knuckle bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the rear wheel hub to knuckle mounting bolts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).

  8. Connect the ABS electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor (1).
  9. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  10. Install the rear caliper and bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  11. Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
